In the summer months of 2021 there remains a continuing feeling of uncertainty about how our social service will be able to include the significant human connection experienced by Rotary participants in the past. Even though the "hands facing space" principle is certainly a part of our daily routine, there's no doubt that the faith in Rotary is increasing and more people are making acquaintances in person. However, the nature of Rotary is changing. However, there is a certain amount of uncertainty as we move into summer 2021. It remains to be seen how the human connections that Rotary participants valued during the past will remain. While the "hands facing space" mantra is sure to become part of regular routine at our organization it is clear that a sense of confidence is developing, and more people have been able to make connections face-to-face. Rotary's changed. Rotary is a network that helps build lasting relationships. While maintaining our online meetings to conduct business and social interactions, we've brought back the concept of social interaction and service in a safer face-to facing format. These new options have been combined with the best practices for preventing pandemics to create a new and bright outlook for Rotary. It was encouraging to learn that 75 percent of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business like usual" activities. In the summer months the majority of Rotary club members have been seen in public focusing on various initiatives, including beach and river cleanings and litter pick-ups. You can listen to the report here. Amanda Watkin is the General Secretary of Rotary Magazine. It was great to hear that, according to the most recent Rotary research study seventy percent of members were looking forward to their normal activities and community projects which were previously useful to communities across Great Britain. It's great to know that the Rotary Support Centre team is able to provide valuable resources which help with the development and maintenance of the infrastructure. It also helps keep both members and the public secure. Compliance and insurance are also important. The creativity of our members and innovative thinking in finding solutions to some of the most challenging problems is astounding. I am thankful for the opportunity that Rotary offered me in 2002 with the opportunity to become an active part of the club. Rotary is also able to provide me with a wonderful network of friends who have a similar outlook. I am thankful for this. Everyone should invite their friends and family to Rotary to truly make a positive difference.
